Stuff That Matters Not

This is Acquah.  He’s a legitimately cool dude.  Don’t take his presented word for it.

Memorial Day Indeed

I’m not thrilled about the anniversary to take place in about fourteen hours from now. I don’t think that it will ever be something to be happy about. But at the very least, I almost feel ready for it, which I never thought I would be.

Times Six

I have finished “book” or character one of four of the current story, namely Mikey Thompson or rather “Number One”. I am still needing to give the latter half of that some time for editing and beyond that, I still need to read that whole story and see if it (a) fits with the larger story well and (b) reads well on its own. It was the most annoying one to write, but I don’t think that it will necessarily read that way; at least I hope it doesn’t. Once I’m done there, I’ll start “book” or character two of four, namely Alice or rather “Rise of the Dragon”. I’m seriously pumped for writing this, but I’ve wanted to wait as to have it properly thought out before executing it. Really excited though. Progress on this is slow, but surprisingly, unlike most other long-term creative endeavors, I’ve yet to abandon it. Let’s see if it maintains. I kind of hope it does; I think that if it ends up sucking, I can at least be personally proud of it.

In addition to this pre-existing story, the idea for another story is forming in my head. Much in the same way that the current one was brewing in my head for about a decade on and off, I imagine that this one will need a similar amount of time. Maybe more. It’ll be a sci-fi epic in six parts. Parts two and five are prequels and all life in the universe dies at the end of part six. I know vaguely what happens, but it’s still early enough that characters and plot points are still being thought of and formed. This is in contrast to the current project in which I know how the entirety of the story will go down. Here, I know a couple main events and a lot of the core characters. It’s exciting. Every time I tell someone else about it, I get that much more excited about it. Maybe this is my artistic calling. Who knows. All that I do know is that I’m working on a story now and then maybe a six-part sci-fi epic. It’s a lot of work and by the time I’m done, I might not know anyone who could possibly be reading this now. Still, could be exciting. Stay tuned.

This is Patricia Grebe.  I’ve had a recurring crush on her since 2004.  I’m filing this under “what could’ve been” next to “if pigs could fly”.

Viciously Cyclic

The person to save me from the demon will be deemed my savior and be granted the keys to the city until they turn into the next demon, at which point, the person to save me from that demon will be deemed my savior and be granted the keys to the city until they turn into the next demon…and so it goes until I either find the right savior or until I allow enough time to ward off a demon on my own, neither of which I’m confident will happen.

Story Update 04/2012

I’m nearing the end of writing the first fourth of my story. I’m literally toward the end of the last chapter of Mikey’s quadrant of the book. As will be the case with each of the final chapters of each quadrant, shit is getting real, but I won’t give anything away. Having written the last three chapters in rapid succession, I’ll probably edit them all simultaneously, and then, once I’ve done the same number of edits on them as I had the previous four written chapters, I’ll re-read the story as a whole to make sure it all flows, further iron out any kinks it may have and then e-mail the resulting draft to those that expressly want to see it then and there. Otherwise, at that point, it’ll be time to finally start Alice’s quadrant of the story.

Given that Alice’s story and Mikey’s Story both make up one half of the story as a whole, when I’m done doing the same kind of proofreading and editing on Alice’s story, I’ll e-mail what I have to friends of mine who are admittedly better writers than I’ll ever be and thereafter, I’ll post every chapter from the beginning of Mikey’s first chapter to Alice’s final chapter on my Tumblr, my LiveJournal, and my Facebook, maybe one chapter every day or every other day. Then I’ll work on the second half starting with John’s quadrant and finishing with Alex’s.

On the whole, I’m surprised that I’m still sticking with this. Though I’m pretty stoked on it, even still. Talking about it with Henry Grumet last night further enforced my own excitement about it. Talking about it with him has had that effect on me multiple times. I guess you should stay tuned. With any luck, it doesn’t suck and is as fun to read as it is to write.

Long Live The Resistance

You can never be replaced. It’s just not possible. But that won’t stop me from trying anyway.

To The Demon

Look, I love you very, very much and I very likely always will. But eventually, I’m going to have to leave it at that as there is nothing else that I can do.

The Worst Brings Out The Best

There’s nothing like a personal crisis to make me realize that I still love someone I had previously thought that I hated.

This is Sean McCurdy.  He is the most zen human being I have ever met.
